Superior sweet oranges for varietal diversification of tropical rainfed orchards

چکیده
Citrus orchards in northeastern Brazil are mostly rainfed and comprised basically of ‘Pera CNPMF D-6’ sweet orange budded on ‘Rangpur’ lime, for the drought tolerance productivity imparted by this rootstock. Therefore, selection new varieties is needed to broaden genetic basis citrus cultivated region. Accordingly, study compared vegetative, productive, fruit quality traits eight scions grafted lime over eleven years under tropical conditions Brazil. ‘Kona’ trees excelled yield performance associated with bulk canopy, precocity, intermediate acidity, high vitamin C contents spite proneness alternate yields low ratio (maturity index). ‘Valencia Montemorelos’ ‘Rubi’ trees, turn, had performances coupled canopies, fruit, acidity (‘Rubi’) contents, propensity fluctuation (‘Valencia Montemorelos’), precocity (‘Rubi’), albeit ratio. Overall, our results emphasize ‘Kona,’ Montemorelos,’ as superior diversification their outstanding good quality.

Crop and varietal diversification of rainfed rice based cropping systems for higher productivity and profitability in Eastern India
Rice-rice system and rice fallows are no longer productive in Southeast Asia. Crop and varietal diversification of the rice based cropping systems may improve the productivity and profitability of the systems. Diversification is also a viable option to mitigate the risk of climate change. In Eastern India, farmers cultivate rice during rainy season (June-September) and land leftovers fallow aft...

Background The history of the world citrus industry is marked by a series of diseases caused by different etiologic agents. Several of them are characterized as biotrophic pathogens like Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri, three Candidatus Liberibacter spp and Citrus leprosis virus C (CiLV-C). In plant-pathogen interactions, the role of salicylic acid (SA) in activating defense related genes is wel...

This work provides a description of the research conducted to assess methods for the discrimination between irrigated and rainfed open-tree canopies using advanced spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometer (ASTER) satellite imagery and discrete anisotropic radiative transfer (DART) radiative transfer 3D simulation model. Summer and winter ASTER images were acquired over a study area...
متن کاملEnvironmental and Agronomic Benefits of Aromatic and Medicinal Plant Strips for Rainfed Almond Orchards in Semiarid Slopes (SE, Spain)
In the Mediterranean zone semi-natural vegetation and diverse mountain-cropping systems have been converted into monocultures with low tree densities, leaving the soil unprotected. Soil loss and runoff over a three-year period were monitored in hillside erosion plots (35% slope and 144 m 2 in area) with almond (Prunus amygdalus) trees under three soil-management systems: no-tillage with sage (S...

Based on these figures, it is no exaggeration to say that more than one-third of the Brazilian annual wealth is supported by a single natural resource: the soil. This justifies the impor‐ tance of studies on how to preserve and improve this valuable resource. According to [2], soils have natural limits to their ability to nourish plants and sustain crop productivity. The degradation of soil qua...
